Visakhapatnam: Members of National Federation of Indian Women, All India Students Federation, All India Youth Federation and students from various colleges staged a protest against growing atrocities on children at GVMC in Visakhapatnam.

After the alleged rape followed by murder of the nine-month-old girl baby in Telangana, the women representatives said the recent gang rape of the 17-year-old girl in Ongole was another gruesome act against girl children.

They demanded stringent punishment for the accused and urged that the laws should be effectively enforced in guarding the girls against rape and murder. The representatives of various organisations also demanded complete ban on liquor and porn sites.

The women during the protest said that the existing laws should be implemented strictly to ensure child safety and concrete steps should be taken to protect girls and children from sexual predators.

Andhra Pradesh Mahila Samaikhya district general secretary A Vimala, among others were present.
