Villages should be converted into Pro-Child habitations: SP
Ongole: The public and private institutions should come forward to create Pro-Child villages and organise awareness programmes on child rights from the village-level to the State-level, said Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal. He participated in the district-level meeting with youth, line departments and other stakeholders on Pro-Child villages, held by the HELP Organization, Childline 1098 and Girls Advocacy Alliance at Kalyani Conference Hall in Ongole on Saturday.
In that workshop with the selected CMPOs and CSOs about the initiatives to be taken to make villages and neighborhood as child-friendly habitations, the SP shared his opinion and also announced that the police department will also work friendly with the children and treat them good in the police stations.
Child Rights Protection Commission member P Padmalatha advised the stakeholders should work to protect children from abuses and the police should see the guilty should be convicted early by completing the investigation and provide justice to the victims. She said the parents and should provide a supportive atmosphere in the family for children to share their issues with them.
She also advised the schools should write about child rights and other information for them in the form of wall writings. HELP Director NVS Rammohan said the child rights protection committees should be formed and their duty charts should be prescribed from village level. He said the workshop was arranged to derive the common procedure to form the committees, their duties and other functionalities by discussing with the stakeholders.
District Child Welfare Committee member Battula Padmavathi said public can bring to their notice about any children who require protection, and requested them to work with them in stopping child trafficking in the district. Ongole DSP T Radhesh Murali, women police station DSP M Balasundara Rao, Town I CI TV Subbarao, resource person P Francis Tambi, GAA AP & TS programme manager S Kumar Panda, HELP representatives BV Sagar, NVS Murthy, Ch Manemma, other CDPOs, MEOs, SIs, Shakti team members, and representatives from various other organisations also participated in the programme.
