Vijayawada: YSRCP was terrorising the prospective candidates of other parties from filing nominations for the local body elections, alleged Bode Ramachandra Yadav of Punganure in Chittoor district.

In a letter submitted to Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan, Ramachandra Yadav said that minister Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy, his son Rajampet MP Mithun Reddy and Chittoor MP N Reddappa who are all natives of Punganur have been giving the candidates all sorts of troubles when they were going to the local polling officer with the help of one hundreds of supporters.

They are forcibly stopping the candidates of other parties and taking away their nomination papers. He said that it was regrettable that the police and the district officials were openly working in a biased manner under the direction of the ruling party leaders. Though the matter had been taken to the notice of the district collector on March 10, he did not take any action against the perpetrators.

Moreover, the officials are not providing any kind of certificates to the independent candidates to enable them to file nominations. "It is nothing but openly assassinating the democracy," he lamented.

The officials and the police are helping the YSRCP Congress leaders to enable the election of the candidates unanimously without giving any chance to the candidates of other parties or independents. He appealed to the Governor to intervene in the issue and make sure the election procedure is conducted in a democratic manner.
