Vijayawada: Appeal for donation of desi cows to TTD
Vijayawada: Giving a clarion call that everyone should pledge to protect Gomata, the TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy on Monday appealed for the donation of Desi breeds of cows to TTD.
The TTD Trust Board Chief launched the Gudiko-Gomata programme sponsored by the HDPP and SV Go-Samrakshanashala at Sri Kanaka Durga temple in Vijayawada along with Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas on Monday. A pair of cows and calves were handed over to the temple authorities amidst chanting of Veda mantras and Mangala Vaidyams.
Speaking on the occasion, the TTD Chairman said the cow occupied the place of mother and hence hailed as Gomata in Hindu Sanatana Dharma. The Puranic legends say that worship of cow beget fruits of worship of all gods. He appealed to everyone to swear to protect the cows in the country.
He said the Go Samrakshana programme has been launched by TTD Board under the instructions of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. A detailed action plan is being prepared for implementing the programme in Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, he added. Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas lauded the unique programme of TTD as a trendsetter and that it should be supported by all.
MLAs Malladi Vishnu, Jogi Ramesh, Kolusu Parthasarathy, TTD JEO P Basant Kumar, HDPP secretary Acharya Rajagopalan, Sri Kanaka Durga temple trust board chairman P Somi Naidu, temple Executive Officer M Suresh Babu and others were present.
