Tributes paid to Jyothi Rao Phule in Kurnool

Kurnool: Minister for Irrigation P Anil Kumar Yadav said that Mahatma Jyothi Rao Phule was most revered by the communities of backward and downtrodden sections. He along with District Collector G Veera Pandiyan and other leaders garlanded the statue of Jyothi Rao Phule located at Birla Gate Circle and paid tributes to him on the occasion of the leader's 129th death anniversary.

Later the Minister addressing media persons, said that Mahatma Jyothi Rao Phule had strove a lot to uplift the downtrodden and backward class communities. ``His relentless efforts to educate the people of those communities and for their development made him a great personality.

Greatly inspired by the principles of Mahatma Phule, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy introduced several welfare schemes benefitting these communities. Reservations to SC, ST, BC and Minorities and 50 per cent to women in nominated posts were created by Chief Minister,'' Anil Kumar said.

Speaking about Jyothi Rao Phule's wife, Anil Kumar said she had also joined hands in the movement to educate people. Inspired by her initiative, Jagan Mohan Reddy is introducing English medium at all government schools so that poor people can pursue quality education, the minister said. .

MLAs MA Hafeez Khan, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy, T Arthur, Shilpa Chakrapani Reddy, YSR Congress Kurnool Parliamentary constituency in-charge, BY Ramaiah, Joint Collectors Patanshetty Ravi Subash, Syed Khaza Mohiuddin, RDO Venkateshu, BC Welfare Officer K Mayuri, BC Corporation ED Seeresha and other officials were present.
