Transform into good human beings, prisoners told: Judge G Sunitha
Eluru: District Judge G Sunitha has called upon the prisoners to transform into good human beings by repentance for the crime they committed in a fit of anger.
She addressed the prisoners on the occasion of Prisoners Welfare Day to mark the Mahtama Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary at the district prison here on Wednesday. She advised them to introspect on their past actions and refine their thinking to help the society. She asked them to avail various programmes being implemented for the welfare of the prisoners.
The judge presented prizes to prisoners who won in various competitions and those who excelled in different services such as cleanliness. A Superintendent of Police M Mahesh Kumar and Jail Superintendent M Venugopala Reddy explained the various activities that were being implemented for the health, welfare and legal help of the prisoners.
District Legal Services Authority secretary K Shailaja, principal civil judge M Sudharani, junior civil judge M Prasanna, first class judicial magistrate D Umadevi, excise court magistrate GVL Prasad, mobile court magistrate R Venkateswara Rao, jailer KV Reddy and others were present.
