TDP leader Desaisetty files nomination as Independent

Nellore: State Organising Secretary of the Telugu Desam Party Desaisetty Hanumantha Rao filed his nomination as an independent for Nellore city constituency where Minister P Narayana is contesting as an official candidate of the ruling party.

Desaisetty is a senior leader in the party who basically has been facing identity crisis. He reportedly expressed his displeasure over latest developments in the party where even new entrants were being honoured with party positions and other nominated posts.

But as a staunch follower of the Telugu Desam Party, he has been continuing in the party and has finally decided to show his dissent to party's decision and filed his nomination papers as an Independent for the city constituency.

He filed the nomination secretly as an Independent and the party leaders came to know about it when the officials released list of valid nominations. Some TDP leaders also met him on Tuesday and tried to convince him to withdraw his nomination. It may be recalled that he belongs to Balija ommunity (Kapu) and his caste background is likely to affect vote bank in the city limits, party leaders say.
