Stating that the government is taking utmost care for the health of the poor, Dr Rao announced that any cases of corruption noticed would be considered very seriously. It was noticed that patients are being asked for money after operation in some places while bribes demanded even for out-patient tickets also at other places. This corrupt system should be rooted out to bring corrupt-free administration at hospitals, he declared.

Dr Rao warned corrupt staff to get prepared to leave job and go home if they continue their corrupt practices any further. The government has no option but to suspend such corrupt employees, he warned.

In some PHCs, delivery cases are being referred to area hospitals without taking care of the patients. This practice should go as the staff at PHCs also paid for their work, he said.
