Strive to bring awareness on AIDS among people, officials told DMHO Dr Penchalaiah
Chittoor: District Medical and Health Officer Dr Penchalaiah said that intensive campaign has been initiated in the district to bring down the HIV cases to zero per cent. All the Primary Health Centres and Community Centres are involved in the campaign, he said.
HIV tests will be held in all the Government Hospitals and PHCs free of cost and keeping the details in confidential. The medical department organised a rally here on Sunday to mark World AIDS Day in which all the doctors and paramedical staff of Chittoor Government Hospital have taken part. The DMHO has flagged off the rally and it passed through the main roads of city.
Addressing the rally, Dr Penchalaiah said that AP government has decided to sanction Rs.10,000 to each of HIV positive case as an assistance. ``The AIDS Control Society has been rendering excellent services for creating awareness on AIDS," he said. He complimented that several voluntary organisations have come up to take an active part in serving the HIV positives in a big way.
Additional District Medical Officer Dr C Aruna Sulachana, the in-charge of District AIDS Control Society explained problems about the dreaded disease and asked the people to cooperate in preventing the spread of the disease. Dr Reddappa, Dr Hansavardhini and others were present .
