Srisailam temple officials gear up for 10-day Dasara fete

Kurnool: The Srisailam Devastanam is being decked up for the Devi Navaratrulu which is also called Dasara Mahotsavams, commencing from 29th September. The utsavams will conclude on the evening of 8th October with Purnahuti and Shami Puja, the day of Dasara festival.

Addressing a press conference at Sri Bramarambha Mallikarjuna Swami temple office on Sunday, the temple Executive Officer KS Rama Rao said that they are expecting nearly 8 lakh devotees for Dasara. Formation of queues, anna danam, water supply, ghat road electrification, cloakrooms, chappal stands, toilets and temporary dressing rooms are being arranged for the convenience of devotees, he said.

He further said that parking lots are being arranged at the temple surroundings. The 10-day ustavams will start at 9.00AM on 29th of this month with special pujas like Ustava sankalpam and Ganapathi puja at Yagasala in the temple.

The festivities will come to an end on 8th of October with Chandiyagam, Purnahuti and Shamipuja, the EO said.The temple authority is expecting a heavy influx of pilgrims from various places this year and is making elaborate arrangements to avoid any problems.

It has planned to erect arches at different places of Srisailam town welcoming the pilgrims, arranging lights at bathing ghats and showers for holy bath at Pathalaganga. Barricades for special queue lines in the premises of main temple are also being arranged.
