Srikakulam: RIMS hospital gets advanced facilities
Srikakulam: Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital in district gets new facilities in the wake of Covid-19 scare. RIMS is the only teaching hospital in the government sector in the district.
In the backdrop of Covid-19 pandemic, the state government sanctioned 50 new expert doctors' posts for the treatment of Covid patients and also to provide regular treatment in various wings.
Of the total 50 sanctioned posts, so far 35 expert doctors joined in their duties. For conducting tests locally to confirm Covid cases, Virus diseases Diagnostics Laboratory (VDRL) was established at RIMS. For this laboratory, the State government sanctioned Rs one crore. To provide emergency treatment facility, liquid oxygen plant was also proposed and the government sanctioned Rs 35 lakh for it. Works are under progress for completion of the plant on war foot in the old causality wing. The plant will be started soon and patients can get services here, said RIMS resident medical officer (RMO) A Aravind to The Hans India.
In addition to it, isolation wards were also established at RIMS with Rs 83 lakh to provide treatment for Covid patients and to prevent its spread. These isolation wards will be useful in future also to provide treatment to the patients suffering from contagious diseases.
