SP S Senthil Kumar lauds Home Guards services in Chittoor

Chittoor: Superintendent of Police S Senthil Kumar stated that the services of Home Guards were highly appreciable in maintaining the law and order and traffic regulation. The Government has introduced a number of schemes for the welfare of the Home Guards, he said.

The 56th Home Guards Raising Day was celebrated at AR Police Parade grounds here on Friday in which SP has participated as chief guest. The SP received guard-of-honour during a march past by Home Guards at the grounds. Additional SP E Supraja and others were present.

Addressing the event , Senthil Kumar recalled that Home Guards system was introduced in India in 1946 and it was restructured in 1963. Their role in preventing anti-social elements, in traffic regulation, law and order , natural calamities , during VVIP visits and festivals is highly appreciable, he complimented.

The SP further that there are 870 Home Guards in the district in which 255 were deputed for private institutions. He said that Home Guards Fund was created in the district for assisting the Home Guards in case of accidents.

The honorarium of the home guards was hiked to Rs.710 per day while allowing all privileges on par with police. DSP (AR) Krishna Mohan, DSP Eswar Reddy, Traffic DSP Giridhar, CIs Bhakar Reddy , Yugandhar and others were present .
