SFI demands government to solve problems at junior college
Vijayawada: The leaders and members of Students Federation of India (SFI) staged a protest at SRR and CVR College here on Tuesday, demanding that the government address the problems in the government junior colleges across the state.
They wanted the government to continue mid-day meals programme which was abruptly stopped and appealed not to give the mid-day meals supply contract to Akshaya Patra organisation. They also asked for supply of free sanitary napkins to girl students, establish NCC unit in SRR and CVR College among other demands.
Speaking on the occasion, SFI district vice-president Ch Sumanth said that stopping mid-day meals was affecting the poor and middle-class students studying in government colleges and appealed to the government to continue the mid-day meals programme with immediate effect. He further appealed to the government to provide infrastructural facilities at the college and keep the premises clean and tidy.
He also demanded that the government establish an NCC unit at SRR and CVR Junior College as most of the students join the government college to join NCC. He along with all the members of the SFI appealed to the government to address the problems at the earliest. SFI district secretary O Yesubabu, SRR college leaders Narendra, Dinesh, Tirupathi, Chandu, Chiranjeevi, Vamsi and others were present.
