Settibalija, Kapus to decide victory here
Rajamahendravaram: In Ramachandrapuram Assembly Constituency, the contestants mainly depend on Settibalija and Kapu communities to win in the elections. The main contest is between TDP sitting MLA Thota Trimurthulu and YSRCP candidate Ch Venu Gopala Krishna. Sitting MLA Thota Trimurthulu was earlier won as independent and from the Congress and on the TDP tickets.
The constituency came into existence in the year 1952 and so far witnessed elections for 17 times in which Congress won the constituency for five times, TDP four times, independents five times, CPI one time, Praja Majdur party one time and one candidate was elected unanimously.
Pilli Subash Chandra Bose was elected as Independent candidate in 2004 election and joined Congress and worked as Minister for Social Welfare in Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy's Cabinet and also got the same portfolio after winning in 2009 elections also. The town is not having protected drinking water facility so far and though the government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 3 crore in this regard, the problem was not addressed so far.
Along with problems, some development works such as construction of 1,088 houses, revenue divisional and regional transport offices, widening of main road, strengthening of river bund with Rs 30 crore were pending here.
TDP candidate Thota Trimurthulu seeking votes showing the development works and YSRCP candidate Ch Venu Gopala Krishna going before the people promising them to serve the constituency as there was no development took place and alleging corruption was increased at various levels.
