Scribes seek 50% fee concession in schools

Chittoor: District unit of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) has submitted a representation to District Collector P S Pradyumna here on Friday, requesting him to provide 50 per cent fee concession to children of journalists studying in private educational institutions.

The Collector assured them of instructing District Educational Officer (DEO) Pandu Rangaswamy to look into the issue. APUWJ district secretary V Krishna said union's general body meeting was held in which several resolutions have passed for the welfare of working journalists. He expressed anguish that journalists are unable to pay huge fees for their children studying in private schools.

"We have requested the Collector to exercise his powers for providing 50 per cent fee concession to the children of the working journalists," he stated. Krishna mentioned that other districts in the State are offering fee concession to wards of scribes. The general body meeting presided over by union's district president Murali Mohan.
