Sankranthi Festival performed in a traditional manner
Kadapa: people of Kadapa have performed Sankranthi in a traditional manner on Monday.
The day begins with since wee hours by conducting Bonfire(Bhogi mantels)with the people of all ages were seen enjoying the event in front of their houses.
On this auspicious occasion, people were seen standing in long lines wearing traditional dresses at the temples for having darshan of the lord. Vishnu temples like Sri Kodanda Rama Swamy temple at Vontimitta, Venkateswara Swamy temple at Devuni Kadapa, Soumyanatha Swamy temple in Nandaluru, etc with reverberated with 'Hari Nama Smaranam'.
A spiritual climate prevailing in the Vishnu temples with the priest has conducted Tirumanjam with Vedic Hymns like Purusha Suktham, Sri Suktham, and concluded the ritual with Manthra Pushpam.
Wholesale retail showrooms in the town and Kadapa city seen packed with the public as the traders attracted the buyer's different offers like One+One, 50 per cent discount, providing gifts as the buyers seen purchasing the cloths in big numbers.
General merchant traders are busy with hectic business with the people are rushing to them purchasing things.
Interestingly long queues were witnessed since early hours at Chicken and Mutton stall even prices of Chicken and Mutton skyrocketed on the occasion of Sankranthi festival. During the normal days Chicken which cost to Rs 150 a kg, on Tuesday it was Rs 215 to Rs 240, while the cost of Mutton which is RS 600 kg during normal day sold up to Rs 800 on Tuesday.
Despite there was a steep increase in their prices people were seen purchasing them in big numbers because no one eats non-vegetarian on Peddapandaga, because it was meant to conducting rituals to Pitrudevathalu, and Kanuma Pandaga falls on Thursday as 90 per cent of people ignored to eat non-vegetarian that particular day as it is auspicious to Saibaba.
Meanwhile, it is known the administration has conducted Sankranthi on Monday during Gandikota hereditary festival.
