Visakhapatnam: The election fight in Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency reached to its peak levels with several candidates intensified their campaigns. However, the main fight is between the TDP and YSRCP only. Adari Anand Kumar, son of Visakha Dairy Chairman Adari Tulasidas, is contesting from this segment on behalf of TDP while YSRCP fielded a doctor from Anakapalle K V Satyavathi. Both candidates are new to the politics and contesting from two main parties.
TDP's senior leader Adari Tulasidas is having food contacts with all people, which may help his son Anand Kumar. Meanwhile, the MLA contestants from the party are also helping for his victory. However, the YSRCP candidate Dr K V Satyavathi is not having political background and completely depending on the party chief Y S Jaganmohan Reddy's charisma and depending on the MLA candidates' campaign.
Though the constituency has several issues related to Central government, including train stoppages at Anakapalle and Elamanchili, containing of pollution levels from Atchutapuram SEZ, Vizag-Chennai Industrial Corridor, Pharma companies issues in Payakaraopeta and demand for Central university, both candidates are not having any clue on these issues.
As the both candidates are not experienced and new to politics, their public speeches are not much attractive and the MLA contestants are introducing them to the voters. The voters in Anakapalle Lok Sabha constituency are completely agriculture based and are very politically active and in every election, they are giving a chance to a new face.
Since 1982, after TDP established in the state, in all the elections, the Congress and TDP have equally winning elections in the segment. The Lok Sabha constituency is spreads in Anakapalle, Elamanchili, Payakaraopeta, Narsipatnam, Chodavaram, Madugula and Pendurty Assembly constituencies.
In 2009-14, TDP MLA candidate from Bheemili represented from this segment on Congress Party, later the present Bheemili YSRCP candidate M Srinivasa Rao elected from this segment on behalf of TDP.
Majority of voters in this segment are from agriculture workers and farmers only. Elamanchili and Narsipatnam municipalities' are only towns in this segment.
