Record 8.79L have darshan in 10 days
Tirumala: A record number of 8.79 lakh devotees had a darshan of Lord Venkateswara in last 10 days from May 11 to May 20, said In-charge joint executive officer of Tirumala, B Lakshmikantham.
Speaking to reporters at his camp office on Tuesday, the JEO said Tirumala witnessed unprecedented footfalls after the SSC results were announced.
May 12 recorded darshan by 1,01,086 devotees and again on May 19 another 1,00,912 pilgrims had a darshan.
He said coordinated efforts of TTD officials and staff had successfully ensured hassle-free darshan, Laddu Prasadam, Anna Prasadam and accommodation to the devotees.
The JEO said over 3,000 Srivari Sevakulu worked 24x7 to provide Anna Prasadam, snacks, drinking water, buttermilk and milk to children in the compartments, outside queue lines of Narayanagiri Gardens, Sarva Darshan, Divya Darshan Complexes along with engineering, vigilance and medical and health wings.
The pilgrim welfare facilitators (volunteers) have done commendable services during the rush period, he added.
Lakshmikantham said in view of anticipation of devotees surge during summer vacation, the TTD had made elaborate arrangements in Kalyana Katta, medical, sanitation, etc., while the radio and broadcasting, transport and IT wings also did their part.
