Kurnool: Opposing the celebrations of AP Formation Day on November 1 and demanding that the celebrations should be organised on October 1, the Rayalaseema Students Joint Action Committee (JAC) leaders took out a huge rally here on Friday.

The student leaders wearing black badges started the rally from Raj Vihar Center and proceeded to the Collectorate where they staged blindfold protest. Speaking on the occasion, JAC leaders Sriramulu, Sunil Reddy, Chandrappa and Rama Krishna demanded that the State government should observe AP Formation Day on October 1.

They said Chief Minister Y S Jagan's father and former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was also against celebrating November 1 as State Formation Day. They demanded that the government should implement the Sribagh pact. "The current Chief Minister has forgotten the values of his father, even though Jagan had set up the party in his name," said B Sriramulu, JAC leader.

Apart from demanding implementation of the Sribagh pact to bring the High Court to Kurnool and shifting State capital to Rayalaseema, the students also demanded that the pending irrigation projects in the region should be completed. Water allocations to Seema must be improved to prevent farmer suicides.
