Protests erupt in Vizag over Priyanka's rape, murder
Visakhapatnam: About 1,000 students, volunteers and representatives of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), women associations and activists took part in a massive rally organised by ABVP condemning the gruesome rape and murder of Priyanka Reddy, a veterinary doctor in Hyderabad.
Mourning her death, several students were seen getting emotional while demanding death penalty for the four accused. ABVP national executive member K Jagadeesh, tribal students' convener for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana K Krishna and district convenor I Bhanumurthy said that stringent action should be taken against the four persons involved in the gruesome murder of veterinary doctor. "In future, one should get scared to commit such heinous crime seeing the quantum of punishment imposed on the accused," they added.
Several students from Visakha Government Degree College for Women and a host of private colleges took out a rally from Asilmetta Junction to Gandhi statue at the GVMC office. Kathi Padma of Mahila Chetana along with others expressed their deep shock over the brutal death of Priyanka and demanded that the accused be given stringent punishment.
