Rajamahendravaram: Jagadguru Sankhara Charya Puri Govardhan Peetham Pontiff Nichalananda Saraswathi Maharaj has underlined the need to preserve our ancient traditions and culture.

On the request of Godavari Institute of Engineering and Technology (GIET) chairman KVV Satyanarayana Raju, he participated in the question and answer programme on GIET premises here on Friday.

"The students are showing interest on the latest courses to get jobs but at the same time, the students should know about our traditions and culture through the holy Peethams to escalate themselves in society with high values," he said.

Responding to a question posed by GIET managing director K Sasi Kiran Varma, the Pontiff said the ultimate Almighty was the only one, though we offer prayers in various forms as we like. Ekeshwara Nadam is a glaring example mentioned in the Epics, Upanishads and Puranas etc, the Swamyji averred. Samanya dharmam is nothing but followed by all and Visesha dharmam changes as per the persons.

Earlier, KVV Satyanarayana Raju and his spouse Badari Lakshmi carried Narayana Padukas on their head brought from the Peetam. Later, the Swamiji performed mass Lalitha Sahasranama Parayanam in which hundreds of people participated.
