Prakasam police bust robbery gang, 6 held
Ongole: Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal announced that the Addanki police have arrested a six-member robber's gang, who attacked couples in a vulnerable position and robbed them for the last six months. He announced that the police recovered booty worth Rs 7.28 lakh from the accused.
According to the SP, the police registered a case on July 10 from a couple that a gold ring and money was robbed from them on Bommanampadu canal bund and another case on July 17 from a man that he is robbed of 2.5 sovereign gold ring and Rs 5,000 cash on Addanki to Renangivaram Road.
Darsi DSP K Prasakasa Rao, Addanki CI T Ashok Vardhan, Addanki and Korisapadu SIs M Srinivasa Rao and M Siva Nancharaiah increased vigil in the area and made strenuous efforts in apprehending Bommala Vijay, Jerripothula Prasad, Kattem Raja, Nallamala Luther, Molathoti Koteswara Rao belonging to Kavuru village of Chilakaluri Pet mandal in Guntur district and Yamarthi Gopi of Chirumamilla village in Nadendla mandal of Guntur district.
During investigation, the police found that the accused were involved in seven heinous cases. The mode of operandi gang members is attacking couples and singles that are traveling on motorcycles and rob money and valuables from them.
The SP announced that one of the accused was involved in a murder case, while one another is a habitual offender. The remaining four are unemployed youth but were influenced by the two for easy money. The SP congratulated the police personnel involved in the investigation and presented rewards to them.
