Police launch Abhaya Vahan scheme for safety of women, children: SP S Senthil Kumar

Chittoor: With a view to protect women and children in emergencies, the district police have innovatively introduced``Abhaya Vahan" scheme in which the police security personnel will immediately initiate the rescue operation, said Superintendent of Police S Senthil Kumar.

In recent times, a number of incidents have occurred at various parts of the country where innocent and incapable women were brutally raped and killed by the cruel criminals, he said.

Speaking to press persons here on Thursday , Senthil Kumar said that immediate assistance will be ensured for the women and children in trouble through Abhaya Vahan between 9am to 6pm.

"Abhayvahan is linked with No.100 and Command Control systems. Those women and children who are in danger situations can avail the services of the exclusive vehicle," he added.

The SP further said that special security measures were initiated at schools, colleges and in villages creating awareness among them to overcome the threat from anti-social elements. Additional SP ( Admin) E Supraja and others were present.
