Police canes migrant workers at Tadepalli in Andhra Pradesh
Guntur: Police resorted to lathi-charge on migrant workers at Tadepalli on Saturday morning. According to sources, on May 15, chief secretary Nilam Sawhney interacted with some of the workers on the national highway at Tadepalli and directed the officials to send them to their native places. She instructed the officials to shift them to relief camps till they were sent to their native places.
Following her instructions, the police officials shifted the migrated workers hailed from UP, Odisha, MP, Jharkhand, Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts to Vijayawada club at Tadepalli. After having breakfast on Saturday morning, about 150 workers started a journey to their native places on their bicycles. As soon as they reached Kanakadurga Varadhi, the police officials stopped and instructed them to go back.
When they didn't heed to the orders, the police resorted to lathi-charge. The workers ran helter-skelter out of fear. Later, the police shifted them to Vijayawada Club and noted their details to send them to their native places.
