Paryavarana Parirakshana Samithi holds rally against use of plastic bags in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: To mark the commencement of Sankranti festival, the NSS volunteers of KVR College in Nandigama on Tuesday took out a rally and performed human chain against use of plastic carry bags.

The event was organised by Paryavarana Parirakshana Samithi (PPS) headed by its president Ramireddy Sridhar. They also took part in Swachh Bharat programme, planting saplings to protect the environment.

On the occasion, Sridhar felicitated those senior citizens who crossed 90 years of age. He appealed to all the people to feel the responsibility of protecting the environment and stop using plastic carry bags.

The college principal, M Venkateswara Rao, explained the villagers on the ill effects of using plastic carry bags and warned the use of harmful carry bags and polythene covers leads to cancer.

NSS coordinator E Picheshwara Rao, Srinivas Rao, Madhu, NSS volunteers and others participated in the programme.
