Ongole: Exposure to rural life for students to be made mandatory soon

Ongole: Prof Ch Saikiran of Mahatma Gandhi National Council of Rural Education said that they were making enough changes in the curriculum of higher education so that the students gets more exposure to life in rural places by making frequent visits to villages.

He participated as the chief guest in the 'One Day Curriculum Development Workshop for Building Rural Resilience' organized in the PG Center Campus of Acharya Nagarjuna University and Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam University in Ongole on Friday.

The Officer on Special Duty for Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam University Dr. KVN Raju presided over the program and said that it is being made mandatory by the government that the students of higher education to go to the villages and study the lifestyle there.

The professor, Sai Kiran said that the curriculum is being changed in such a way that the higher education students should go to rural villages every week to understand the concepts mentioned in the curriculum with real-life experiences.

Another guest, special officer of ANU PG Campus Dr B Krishna said that the highly educated students should also consider starting enterprise units to create employment in rural places and take part in the development of villages.

The workshop director Dr Amruthavalli Devi, Dr N Nirmalamani, NSS PO Dr Harsha Preetham Dev Kumar, Dr A Bharathi Devi, and other staff and research students also participated in the programme.
