Ongole: Bank unions extend support to Bharat Bandh
Ongole: Prakasam district Bank Employees Associations Coordination Committee announced their support to the nation-wide strike by the trade unions and their association organisations on November 26.
In a meeting held in Ongole on Monday, UFBU convener V Ramachandra Rao alleged that the union government has taken a policy to privatise the banking sector by merging the banks and then handing over to corporate companies. He said that they are opposing the move by the government and demanded it to recover the NPAs first. M Narendra Babu, assistant state secretary of Syndicate Bank employees' association demanded the government to increase the interest rates on deposits and conduct recruitments that are pending for a long time. Syndicate Bank association vice-chairman Ch Rakesh Kiran demanded the government to reintroduce the old pension system by abolishing the new pension system. Andhra Bank Employees Zonal secretary K Rajeev demanded the dear allowances linked pension to all employees. BEFI leader TL Prasad demanded support to RRBs and Cooperative banks while Syndicate Bank employees' leader U Venugopal condemned the attitude of the union government.
The other leaders P Brahmaiah, Brahmanaidu, Surendra, MV Umasankar, P Narasimham, P Raveendra Babu, P Rajendra Rao, PVRK Prasad and others also participated in the meeting.
