Vijayawada: A special general body meeting of Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association was held here on Thursday. A new general body was elected and KP Rao was elected as the general secretary of Andhra Pradesh Olympic Association unanimously on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, KP Rao said the tenure of the general body will be till 2023. He said, "I was into this sports for the last 20 years promoting players and others and now I have taken charge as the general secretary of the association. I would strive to get sponsorship of Rs 5 lakh to all sports associations irrespective of Olympic and non-Olympic association in the state which is the first of its kind in India.

I will talk to the government of Andhra Pradesh after May 23 along with the Indian Olympic Association and organise national games in the state. By conducting national games, infrastructure will be developed. Without depending on the government and sports authority, I would invite sponsors for each game and try to transform the state as sports hub and see that the state is number one in sports."

He further said that a dispute commission and arbitration committee will be formed which will be headed by retired High Court justice and judges to resolve issues transparently.
