No possibility to hike assembly seats in Telugu states separately: Kishan Reddy
Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home Affairs, has made interesting comments in the wake of discussions over the increase in the legislative assembly seats for the two Telugu states under the Andhra Pradesh bifurcation Act 2014. He asserted that the increase in the number of assembly seats in two Telugu states will be done along with other states in the country.
He also said that it is not possible to increase the number of seats for two states separately under as per the Parliamentary rules. Kishan Reddy made it clear that the central government has not yet contemplated in taking any decision on the increase of seats in the country. He said that the Law Ministry would take a final call on the increase of Assembly seats in Telugu states.
However, Kishan Reddy said the central government is in talks of increasing the assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. Kishan Reddy, who met with Jammu and Kashmir Block Level Democrats in Delhi on Thursday, said that the process of increasing the assembly seats in Kashmir has not begun; the government is making a wide range of discussions over the issue.
