Update: 2019-08-27 14:56 IST

Amaravati: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed the district collectors to transport the sand from the reaches to the identified stockyards across the state, while reiterating that the new Sand Policy to be rolled out on September 5.

He reviewed the progress achieved in bringing the sand policy, during a meeting on the weekly Spandana programme on Tuesday at Secretariat.

Jagan stated that unless the sand would be available sufficiently in the market, we could not control the exorbitant prices. Since the sand is not available in the market at present, the public has been suffering. Discussing on the strategy to be implemented to provide the sand at affordable prices, the Chief Minister stated that the prices must be reduced when compared with the present rates.

To maintain sufficient stock in the market, Jagan suggested to increase the number of sand reaches.

He urged the officials to ensure fair delivery of the sand to the public.

At the same time, the Chief Minister stated that those who did not like the government's policy spread false propaganda. Officials must be careful on such people and think of alternatives to control that, he added.
