New policy needed for school education: Ilaiah

Vijayawada: The representatives of SCs, STs, BCs and minorities and a few political parties hoped the victory of Pratyusha Subba Rao. In this connection, a meeting was organised at Press Club here on Sunday.

The chief guest of the programme was political theorist, writer and activist for Dalit rights Prof Kancha Ilaiah.

Addressing the gathering, Ilaiah appealed to all the graduates of Krishna and Guntur districts to cast their valuable vote to MLC candidate Pratyusha Subba Rao.

He said that Subba Rao was an educationalist, psychologist, and intellectual in political economics.

He further said that education in the state has become a business. He demanded that the government introduce both Telugu and English media schools in villages.

A separate policy should be designed for school education by discussing the issues at the council meetings, he said and recalled that they fought against the Telangana government to introduce English medium in villages.

He demanded the government introduce Bahujan Canteens at villages and provide breakfast and meals at minimal rates Rs 3 and Rs 5 respectively.

He also asked the government to give loans to workers without any surety up to Rs one lakh.

U Sambasiva Rao, Y Koteswara Rao, K Shankar Rao, B Pushparaj, Noorbasha, S Appa Rao, Mohan Kumar, N Raju and others were present.
