Nellore: Use mother tongue in admn procedures says Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad

Nellore: Chairman of AP Hindi Academy and Official Language Commission Dr Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad said the state government is taking all measures to implement Telugu as the official language in the administrative affairs.

He conducted a review meeting with the district officials along with the members on Monday and suggested them to correspond and issue orders in the mother tongue for a wide reach to the welfare programmes being implemented by the state government.

He also said the government asked the Commission to verify the use of mother tongue in administrative procedures. They are considering three aspects such as submitting a report to the government on the utilisation of mother tongue, a plan for its implementation, and making its use compulsory.

Lakshmi Prasad also reminded that the Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has made compulsory teaching of Telugu as a subject for classes one to ten. He said late Chief Minister Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy provided the status of oriental language to Telugu and reminded focus of former Chief Ministers NT Rama Rao and Jalagam Vengala Rao.

He also said Vice-President M Venkaiah Naidu had put his efforts to shift the Centre of Excellence in Studies in Classical Telugu from Mysore to Nellore. He asked the district officials to check department wise use of Telugu for official procedures and take measures for complete implementation.

Joint Collector MN Harendira Prasad, Deputy Collector M Das, Commission members M Papi Reddy, Sarat Jyotsna, Chandu Subba Rao, Shaik Mastan and others were present.
