National Children's Science Congress to commence today at SPMVV

Tirupati: Andhra Pradesh State Council of Science & Technology (APCOST) will be organising the State level event of the 27th National Children's Science Congress (NCSC) at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam (SPMVV), Tirupati, on November 24 and 25. About 400 participants including child scientists, guide teachers, district coordinators, district academic coordinators from all over the State are expected to participate in the event.

The programme is supported by National Council for Science & Technology Communication (NCSTC), Department of Science & Technology (DST), New Delhi. Each Project has been prepared by a group of two children under the guidance of a Teacher / Mentor / Scientist etc., The event is being organised at 3 levels - District, State and National Level. APCOST, which is a nodal agency to DST, has been coordinating and organising the district and state level events.

At the District Level, a total of 3,393 Projects have been prepared by the child scientists from nearly 1,800 schools from 13 districts and presented under the Focal Theme "Science, Technology and Innovation For A Clean, Green And Healthy Nation."

Out of them, 167 Projects will be selected for state level event, 13 or 14 projects from each district. Of these 167 projects, 17 projects will be selected for National level event to be held at Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from December 27-31.

The inaugural function of the event will be held on Sunday at Indira Priyadarshini Auditorium of SPMVV in which Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy, Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development P Ramachandra Reddy and other dignitaries will be taking part, said the Member Secretary of APCOST P Phala Chandra Rao.
