MLA stresses on the need to save ozone layer in Chittoor

Chittoor: MLA A Srinivasulu said that everyone should take responsibility for protecting nature from environmental challenges and to protect the Ozone layer from air pollution. There should be united effort to create awareness among people for rising the plants and to keep the environment free from pollution, he said. To mark the International Ozone Day, an organisation, Youth For Better-Chittoor, organised a programme at Santapet Municipal High School in city on Monday to create awareness among students.

Participating in the programme, Srinivasulu appealed to the students to take part in mass plantation programmes in which the Social Forestry department should take up initiative. ``Planting a sapling is not a big achievement, but its protection is important. Trees will be helpful for protecting the ozone layer in a safe manner, " he stated. On the occasion, he listed out the achievements of Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy during his 100 days regime. " Ammavodi programme will be launched in the state on 26th January-2020, he said. Each mother of the student will be financially assisted with Rs.15,000 per annum. Steps will be taken to provide basic amenities at the Anganwadi Pre-schools and superior quality of rice will be supplied to all the Government schools under mid-day meal scheme, " he added.

Participating in the event, District Collector N B Gupta asked the officials to strive to make Chittoor district as the first one in the state in implementing clean and green programme..He reiterated that students should come forward voluntarilyfor protecting the trees.
