MLA distributes free cycles to girl students in Tirupati
Tirupati: On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy, bicycles were distributed to girl students in government schools here on Monday.
The students, who studied classes VIII and IX during last academic year, were provided with free cycles under 'Rajanna Badibata' programme to encourage them to continue their education without dropping out and grow academically.
At a programme held at MGM Corporation High School in Bairagipatteda, Tirupati MLA B Karunakar Reddy, MLC Y Srinivasulu Reddy and Corporation Commissioner PS Girisha took part and distributed cycles to the girl students.
Speaking on the occasion, Karunakar Reddy has said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has decided to give a financial assistance of Rs 15,000 to every mother, who send their children to school and this assistance will be given on January 26, 2020. In Tirupati urban limits, 1,624 girl students in various government and municipal schools will be distributed cycles. All the students of government schools will get three pairs of uniform clothes and will be provided quality mid-day meal.
In pilgrim city, 528 children have newly joined in Municipal Corporation schools taking the tally to 7,267 as against 6,739 in the previous year. Girisha stated that the libraries in Corporation schools will be strengthened. MLC Y Srinivasulu Reddy and others also spoke.
