Ministers wearing black glasses not to see potholes: BJP Somu Veerraju
Nellore : BJP state president Somu Veerraju said the Centre had provided Rs 500 crore for construction of roads in rural areas in the state, adding that the ministers visiting the constituency are wearing black glasses so that not to see potholes and bumpy roads in Atmakur.
Participating in a road show organised in Atmakur on Tuesday, Veerraju said no development had taken place in the constituency even though the Centre had given Rs 500 crore to give a facelift to roads in rural areas.
Stating in a sarcastical tone that ministers have been wearing black glasses not to see the potholes on the roads in Atmakur segment, he appealed to people to teach a strong lesson to the ruling party by casting their votes to BJP on June 23. He said ministers visiting the constituency as part of the campaign are continuously wearing glasses to avoid seeing the bad condition of roads.
Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao said they have fielded G Bharat Kumar Yadav from backward classes and added that the byelection is going to be a game changer in Andhra Pradesh politics. He criticised the government for not paying dues of Rs 600 crore to the farmers towards paddy procurement in Nellore district.
He said farmers lost their livelihood during the policies being pursued by the current government. Narasimha Rao said farmers were not being paid dues for stocks sold to the government. This election is a crucial one where people should express their opinion on the performance of the government, he added. MLC Vakati Narayana Reddy, senior BJP leaders K Anjaneya Reddy, P Surendra Reddy and RD Wilson took part in the road show.
