Megha Grabs Polavaram Contracts; AP Government Saves 628 Crores

The re-tendering undertaken by Andhra Pradesh government for Polavarm project is reaping huge benefit to the AP govt's economy by saving crores of money. Earlier the govt has saved 58 crores in the first phase of re tenders held on Friday.

However, the govt has invited the applications for the second phase of re tenders for the construction of hydroelectric project and Polavaram head works. The govt has quoted 4987 crore. The Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd is the only company who participated in bid and grabbed the contract by quoting it for 4358 crores, which is less by 12.6 per cent of original cost. With this, the AP government saved 628 crores. Megha would start its works soon after it gets clearance from the courts.

Megha, which completed the construction of the Pattiseema Raptors Scheme and Kaleshwaram lift irrigation in record time is all set to take the Polavaram works soon. The Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Ltd company is determined to complete this multipurpose Polavaram project within the stipulated time frame.
