Lorry owners demand reduction in diesel prices
Amaravati: The AP Lorry Owners Association has staged a State-wide protest on Monday, demanding a reduction in the diesel and petrol prices. The Association General Secretary YV Eswara Rao stated that as the prices of the fuel have been skyrocketing, that was causing a heavy burden on the truck owners.
He said that transportation became very difficult with increased prices. In addition to that, the lorry owners already landed in the financial troubles as the COVID 19 lockdown completely hampered the transportation system for at least three to four months.
As part of the protests, the Central Delta Lorry Owners Association members pulled a lorry with a rope, in Amalapuram. The Association president Vakapalli Peddakapu said that the central government should reduce the diesel prices with immediate effect.
He further explained that the prices on the fuel were increasing every day from the last two weeks. Apart from that, the lorry and truck owners have participated in these protests across the state, amidst the COVID19 threat.
