Kurnool: Give priority to atrocity cases, officials told
Kurnool: District Collector G Veera Pandian has instructed the officials concerned to give priority for resolving SC/ST Atrocities cases. He held a review meeting on the District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee (DVMC) at the Collectorate here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said the departmental heads have to work in unison for the welfare of the SC and ST communities. Pandian directed the officials to clear pending cases without delay. If the officials find difficult to resolve any issue then they have to bring to my notice, he stated.
Expressing his seriousness on not clearing atrocity cases, the Collector said that he would conduct a review meeting once in three months. He further said the government is implementing a procedure for distribution of land to SCs and STs under various schemes.
Apart from land distribution, the government is also facilitating power connection, drip system and sanctioning of bores to bring the lands under cultivation, he explained. The Collector expressed anguish over SCs and STs selling their lands in desperation instead of strengthening their financial status through cultivation. The Integrated Tribal Development Agency (ITDA) Project Officer (PO), Srinivas was directed to impart coaching to educated unemployed youth among SCs and STs. He also instructed District Revenue Officer (DRO) Venkatesham to submit him a detailed report containing the number of outsourcing employees and whether the salaries are being paid to them as per the government norms.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Dr K Fakkeerappa said around 247 atrocity cases have been filed since 2011 to May 31, 2019 under Allagadda, Atmakur, Dhone, Kurnool, and Nandyal subdivisions. Of them, several cases have been resolved and the rest would be cleared at the earliest, he mentioned.
