Kurnool: Fodder worth 20Lakhs reduced to ashes
Kurnool: In a major fire mishap, cattle fodder worth Rs 20 lakh was reduced to ashes at Hosuru village in Pathikonda constituency on Wednesday. According to information, some farmers of Hosur village have purchased the paddy hay to feed the cattle and stacked at the agriculture land adjacent to the village.
Unexpectedly, fire caught at one stocking and spread to others, In no time around 15 to 20 hay stacks have caught fire and reduced to ashes. The farmers on learning about the fire mishap rushed to the spot and tried their best to douse the flames but due to the heavy fire, the farmers gave up dousing and informed to the fire department personnel. The hay stacks reduced to ashes by the time fire tenders arrived to the spot.
Pathikonda Circle Inspector G R Krishnaiah said the fire might have caused due to heavy heat or someone might have left lighted cigarette butt without putting it off. That might have ignited the dry grass and literally spread to the cattle fodder. A case was filed.
MLA Kangati Sridevi, on learning about the incident, rushed to the spot and enquired about the fire mishap. She consoled the farmers and assured to help them financially from the government.
