Kurnool: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths raided the Road Transport Office (RTO) in Nandyal and caught red handed the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI) V Srinivasa Rao while accepting a bribe of Rs 8,000.

The Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) M Nagabushnam said to media persons on Saturday that one Karimullah has approached the MVI for renewing his jeep licence.

For doing the favour Srinivasa Rao has demanded Rs.8000 and asked Karimulla to give the amount to one Narasimhulu, a private agent. In the meantime, the complainant approached the ACB office and lodged a complaint.

``With the complaint, we laid a trap and nabbed Narasimhulu while accepting the bribe amount on behalf of the MVI, V Narasimhulu. We have also found the original documents pertaining to the jeep licence renewal in the table draw of MVI. We have seized the bribe amount and the documents,'' said the DSP.

A case under relevant sections was filed and the duo would be produced in the ACB Kurnool court for further action. The person who acted on behalf of the government official will also be treated as an accused and punishment would be the same, clarified M Nagabushnam.
