Kerala Samajam celebrates Onam in Tirupati

Tirupati: City-based cultural organisation Kerala Samajam celebrated Onam festival with pomp and gaiety here on Sunday. Inaugurating the celebration, local MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy said Tirupati city had turned into a mosaic of various cultures and languages thanks to the booming pilgrim economy.

He lauded Kerala Samajam for organising the festival to help the Keralities in the district to keep their cultural and traditional moorings intact. Later Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy also joined in the celebration.

All India Malayalee Association vice-president Nandakumar and Nellore Malayali Association president Gopinath also participated in the meet as guests of honour.  Various cultural activities were performed by students from IISER, Stanford School, Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha etc which were followed by a sumptuous Kerala lunch.

Keralities from surrounding towns also joined with their families in the celebration. Kerala Samajam,president P Narayanan, Secretary Muralidharan, Treasurer Nooruddin and others were present.
