KBN college foundation day today in Vijayawada

Vijayawada: Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana (KBN) College (Autonomous), ranked 92nd in the national ranking, will celebrate its 55th foundation day on November 6 on a grand note. The chief guest of the programme is Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan.

KBN College is situated in One-Town of the city where poor and middle-class families are more. The college stands tall for imparting quality education to the students for the last 55 years which is a great achievement.

The college foundation was laid by former chief minister Kasu Brahmananda Reddy in 1964, and the classes were commenced in 1965-66. Freedom-fighter and educationalist Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana was the founder president of the institution.

The institution started with 278 students and 19 staff initially and raised to 5400 students with about 200 staff apart from 150 non-teaching staff. KBN was offering eight Intermediate, 16 degree and six PG courses to the students. The college was recognized for having the best lab facility, best library and best NSS wing by the Andhra University and Acharya Nagarjuna University.

The institution is well known for its social service activities. They organise free summer camps for women. They also organise blood donation camps, self-defence courses like Kareta and others.
