Kakinada: State Women's Commission (SWC) chairperson Vasireddy Padma said that youth and children were attracted to the social media by means of internet and they are indulging in sexual assaults on girls.

She visited Disha One Stop Centre and consoled the sexually abused girl on Friday.

Padma said that it was heinous crime to molest a girl. The issue would be brought to the notice of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, she added.

She said that Disha Act aims to bring justice to the victims of sexual assault. Parents need to focus on their children's behavior. Nowadays, the use of cell phones is increasing regardless of age.

Parents should impose restrictions on the use of cell phones by young children.

She advised parents and teachers to educate children keep safe distance from social media. She assured to do justice to the victims through Disha Act.

Awareness programmes will be organized by the Women's Commission to prevent such incidents from happening again.
