Kakinada: Minister Viswaroop distributes Vasathi Deevena cards

Kakinada: Social Welfare Minister Pinipe Viswaroop has said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has made education free to the economically backward students providing all facilities with the implementation of the Jagananna Vasathi Deevena (JVD) scheme.

He distributed Vasathi Deevena cards at his camp office at Kamanagaruvu village in Amalapuram on Tuesday. He said that the CM was paying fee to college students and also extending financial assistance to their mothers.

Under the JVD scheme, the government is paying an amount of Rs 10,000 to ITI students, Rs 15,000 to Polytechnic students and Rs 20,000 for degree students. The amount will be credited in their mothers' bank accounts in two installments. The scheme was aimed at reducing the number of dropouts. It will ensure students from low income families get Rs 20,000 per year for their hostel and mess fees.
