Kakinada: Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Kakinada students, grand parents and staff grandly celebrated Grandparents Day here on Wednesday.

Valsapakala Panchyat Secretary Bibi was honoured on the occasion. The students and grandparents participated in various games, classical dance and other competitions. They showcased their talent in various activities. The influence of grandparents in a child's life was crucial when both parents are working. Children spend a lot of time with their grandparents from whom they receive affection and guidance.

The students from first to fifth standard accompanied their grandparents to the school and honoured them. More than 70 grandparents attended the function. All of them were welcomed by their grandchildren with a red rose. They were also presented with greeting cards prepared by the children.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Principal B Shekhar said that every year, they conduct the Grandparents Day across India. In return, the grandparents expressed their views and expressed the hope that more such programmes that encourage human values in children would be conducted. They got into the celebratory mood of the day by singing songs and tapping their feet, declaring that their spirits were high even if their bodies are weak.

Later, the principal distributed prizes to the winners. Faculty members Duvvuri Naresh, Pankaj Kumar, Kalandi Sahoo, Kalavathi, Deen Dayal, Trilok and others were present.
