Kakinada: Call to protect health sector from privatisation
Kakinada: East and West Godavari Graduates MLC Illa Venkateswara Rao said that the government was not filling the medical vacancies in the state.
He addressed the fifth district-level meeting of the United Medical and Health Employees Union (CITU affiliate) held at Ideal College in Kakinada on Sunday as Chief guest. He said that he will fight on behalf of employees in the Legislative Council on issues like PRC, DA and CPS scrap and other issues.
State Union Secretary Palivela Srinivasa Rao said that thousands of contract nurses, pharmacists, doctors and PHC staff have become regulars as a result of the struggles launched by the United Medical and Health Union which was formed since 2004. He demanded the government to immediate filling up of the vacant posts.
Later they elected the Union new office bearers. CITU District Vice-President Duva Sheshababji, DA Ratna Raju and others were present.
