It is unconstitutional for CS to write a letter to SEC: Yanamala Ramakrishnudu
The TDP leader and MLC Yanamala Ramakrishnudu found fault with chief secretary Nilam Sawhney's letter to state election Commissioner Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar over the postponement of local body elections. He said that it is unconstitutional for CS to write a letter to SEC demanding to hold elections.
Speaking to media on Monday, Yanamala demanded CM Jagan to apologize to the state election commissioner for foul mouthing him. He said that once the state's election commission has announced schedule, there will be no role for the government.
He said that the Constitution provides the SEC to exercise electoral management and responsibilities; nobody can question the powers of the SEC. Yanamala recalled that the World Health Organization's notice of declaring a Global Emergency on the coronavirus, a national disaster. "It is the best decision to postpone the elections, " Yanamala opined.
