IDPS students pitch for use of clay Ganesha idols in Ongole

Ongole: The International Delhi Public School(IDPS) students in Ongole advised the parents and public to use clay Ganesha idols and celebrate the festival eco-friendly way.

Under the guidance of school managing director Sidda Sruthi, the children made about 274 clay idols with their tiny hands and distributed them free of cost to public on Saturday.

Sruthi said that the staff has explained the children about the age-old history and traditions of the land along with the culture and practice behind performing the Vinayaka Chaviti. She said the IDPS has tried to bring out the talent and creativity of children by motivating them by explaining the damage being done to the environment in the name of development in the modern days.

She said the children mixed seeds in the clay while making Ganesha idols and they would start sprouting when the devotees immerse the idols in water and advised the public to use them in the place of idols made with Plaster of Paris and polluting paints.
