Hire locals in high-level jobs: Deputy CM Narayana Swamy

Tirupati: Addressing the entrepreneurs at 'consultative meeting on ease of doing business' meet organised at Sri Venkateswara University (SVU) here on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister K Narayana Swamy gave a call to them to encourage local talent by giving higher-level jobs.

He expressed displeasure over private industries hiring more labour-incentive jobs to local unemployed youth.

The Minister mentioned that the State government is providing slew of incentives to entrepreneurs for setting up their units in the State.

He criticised majority industries are not hiring locals, instead, bringing employees from Chennai, Bengaluru and other cities.

Explaining several measures taken by the government to attract more industries to Andhra Pradesh, Industries Minister Mekapati Goutham Reddy said permissions for industries would be given through single desk within few days.

To encourage the young entrepreneurs, the Industries department has been conducting monthly awareness meetings in all the districts, the Minister stated.

He mentioned that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is always ready to encourage the entrepreneurs for generating the huge number of jobs in rural areas.

Andhra Pradesh Industrial Investment Corporation (APIIC) Chairperson RK Roja said that the APIIC is working to double the women entrepreneurs from the present 18 per cent in the State.

She further said the APIIC has developed 4,000 acres of land for establishing the industries in the district. We will allot land for new industries, she added.

In the meeting, entrepreneurs brought their difficulties to the notice of the Industries Minister. They have asked the Minister to ensure uninterrupted power supply, availability of water and laying of roads.

Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakar Reddy, Chandragiri MLA Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Chittoor MLA J Srinivasulu and Satyavedu MLA Adimulam also spoke.

District Collector Dr N Bharat Gupta, officials of the Industries department and entrepreneurs from the Sri City were present.
